Financial Afrik reports that Kenya reached a new remittance milestone, citing the 2025 Remittances Household Survey Report from the Central Bank of Kenya, KNBS, and partners. Kenyan households received KES 931.8 billion between June 2024 and May 2025, with the United States remaining the largest source of funds.

The report also highlights the growing role of mobile money. Banks still account for the largest share by value, but mobile money is becoming the leading channel for the most recent transactions because of reach, speed, and lower costs.

For construction and property investment, the story matters because diaspora-funded projects depend on money moving across borders cleanly. Easier transfers help, but they also increase the need for stronger controls: budgets, milestone approvals, receipts, and proof that funds are being used as intended.
